Tom Saller, born in 1967, Germany, studied medicine and works as a psychotherapist nearby Cologne. In his free time he writes and plays the saxo in a Jazz club. His first novel, Wenn Martha tanzt, was publish in 2018 and became immediately a bestseller, in which he combines successfully his interest for both literature and music. In 2019 his second novel was published: Ein neues blau.

The first book by Tom Saller, where he tells us about Martha Wetzlaff’s life in two different time lines, is not only a novel about the Bauhaus art school, but much more. Her familiar saga includes more than a century of German history, with a focalization towards the first parto f the XXth century. Two wars, familiar bonds, fates, love stories and friendship ones, music, art and society – Saller creates a perfect plot with all this in his 300 pages. A magical childhood in Pommern and a crazy era in the Bauhaus!

A young german travels to Sotheby’s, in New York, to auction a notebook with notations  for a minimum of 30 million dollars, a relic from his grandmother. It contains notes undiscovered until then, sketches and drawings from Feininger, Klee, Kandinsky and other artists from the Bauhaus school.

Martha was born in a small german village, in 1900. As a teenager, she went to Weimar, to the famous Bauhaus school. There she will make herself a name as a dancer, until the nazis shut the school down. She goes back to her village with a son in her arms and a notebook full of notes, very valuable notes for her and for the future. Many years later, her great-grandson finds this notebook and brings her story back to life. There is just a problem, after the Second world war, Martha’s track is lost when running away…
